TEHRAN (IQNA) – Sometimes we immediately after doing something regret it and try to make up for what we did wrong. But there will come a day when there is no use in regret and our mistake could not be made up for.

Surah At-Taghabun

That day has been described in Surah At-Taghabun of the Holy Quran.

It is the 64th Surah that has 18 verses and is in the 28th Juz of the Quran. The Madani Surah is the 110th chapter revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

In verse 9 of the Surah, the Resurrection Day has been referred to as the Day of Taghabun, and hence the name of the Surah. The word Taghabun means remorse and having regrets about doing something. On that day, people will regret having done some of the things they did in this world.

Among the objectives of the Surah are reminding people of Tawheed (monotheism) and the Resurrection and warning them to make the best of the opportunities they have in this world to do righteous deeds.

The Resurrection Day, creation of mankind, and social and moral commandments about issues like Tawakkul (putting one’s trust in God), lending, and avoiding stinginess are among the main subjects mentioned in this chapter.

The beginning verses highlight some of God’s attributes and then, referring to God’s omniscience, the Surah warns people to be careful about what they do in private or in public and not to forget the fate of previous nations.

In another part of the Surah, the Resurrection Day and the hereafter are discussed. One of the features of the Resurrection Day is that on that day, a groups of people regret what they did in this world.

Ordering people to obey God and His messenger and emphasizing on the importance of prophethood are among other subjects of the Surah. The last part encourages people to give in charity on the path of God and warns them no to be deceived by their wealth, children and wives. It says that properties, children and spouses are means for testing people in the world.

Some think that according to these verses, they should fully stay away from worldly things in order not to face divine tests but Quran interpretations emphasize that all people will certainly face those tests and should make sure to pass them successfully by resorting to God and divine teachings.
